BLUE BOLT
Goodwood 2:05 – Fitzdares Conqueror Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 1m) Blue Bolt lands back on home soil (well, Sussex turf) for her seasonal bow, and she’s a proper flagship for the Andrew Balding/Juddmonte/Colin Keane combo. Last season this filly went boom: she made all to win the Coral Distaff Listed at Sandown, then ran a rock-solid 2nd in the Atalanta Stakes (Group 3) and followed up with another excellent 2nd in the Group 1 Sun Chariot at Newmarket. She’s clearly got Group aspirations written all over her, but today she drops back into Listed company where she should be head and shoulders above this lot on fast ground.
The others have questions to answer (a couple disappointed last time out, others need to step up sharply), so Blue Bolt looks the standout. She’s short enough at around 1/1–evens, but this feels like one of those “banker on the day” returns.Tip: Blue Bolt to win – she’s the class act and should make a winning reappearance. Nice each-way insurance if you’re feeling cautious, but we expect her to bolt up.
